A police spokesperson said: “There is a large part of the St George area cordoned off for crime scene investigators to make a thorough examination. There is more than one crime area.”

One witness described a police helicopter circling above for a large part of the night. The witness also said he saw people being carried out on a stretcher.

Police issued an appeal, saying they are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting reference 5216171799.
