There was a giant water fight in Bristol and the fire brigade turned up

By Martin Booth  Wednesday Aug 24, 2016

Excitement at a giant water fight was turned up to 11 on Wednesday evening when the fire brigade arrived and pointed their hoses on already drenched participants.

With its fountains and other assorted water features, Millennium Square was once again an ideal place for the second annual fight, which this year was raising money for the YMCA.

Colourful water bombs flew over heads as unsuspecting passers-by were caught up in the mayhem.

Even former mayor of Bristol George Ferguson was in the thick of the action:

Most of the fun was being had by the fountains near Las Iguanas, with a variety of guns in all shapes and sizes, and improvised weapons including buckets and plastic bottles.

When the fire brigade arrived, the action quickly shifted towards the At-Bristol planetarium near to where they had parked.

One fire engine parked on Explore Lane and soon its occupants had set their hoses to on, also spraying water high into the air which fell on the crowd like rain.

The fire fighters joined in with gusto and gave as good as they got – although in their jackets and helmets they were considerably better protected than most of the other participants.

Is there anything more exciting than being in a giant water fight with a fire engine?
