The Bristol Labour groups backing Corbyn
The first two of four local Labour Party groups in Bristol have voted for Jeremy Corbyn as their nomination in the leadership election.
Bristol North West and Bristol East Constituency Labour Party (CLP) groups both held meetings this week where a vote was taken by members.
CLP meetings have been suspended across the country amid claims of widespread abuse and bullying – including in Bristol West where a long-serving member was left in tears after a recent AGM.

However, CLPs have been permitted to hold votes to submit their official nominations for the leadership election between Corbyn and challenger Owen Smith.
Although the nominations are not binding and have no formal consequence on the race, they give an indication as to which way the local members are voting in the election.
Bristol East CLP, which falls in the constituency of MP Kerry McCarthy who resigned from Corbyn’s shadow cabinet, voted about 50-20 per cent in favour of the current leader, according to sources.
Bristol North West CLP, which operates in Tory MP Charlotte Leslie’s seat, also voted in favour of Corbyn by a “large majority”.
A source at the Bristol North West meeting said the atmosphere was “friendly”, adding: “There was no difficulty at the meeting.”
Bristol West CLP is due to meet on August 9 to take a vote. Bristol24/7 is waiting for details of Bristol South. Across the country, CLPs were 46-12 in favour of Corbyn, according to a list published by the New Statesman on Thursday.
