Book to board trains with bikes
Passengers on some GWR services will now have to pre-book spaces for their bikes.
The company says spaces must be reserved on trains running between Bristol and London by 6pm the day before travel.
Travellers will have to book one of the six dedicated bicycle storage spaces on board trains to London, but the new rules do not apply if you have a folding bike.
is needed now More than ever
Dan Paines from GWR told the BBC that the problem is more people than ever want to board trains with their bikes: “It’s much more popular than it was, even two or three years ago.
“What we’re seeing is that people with bikes and tickets, turning up and finding that there’s no space on that train, having to buy another ticket or pay a little bit more to get on the next one.”
GWR said the new rules are the same as other train operators and local services such as the Severn Beach Line will remain unaffected.
