More than 900 Santas took part in a festive-themed bike ride to celebrate the completion of the South Bristol Link, a new road that links the Long Ashton bypass to Hengrove Park.

Dr Simon Dunn of Alun Griffiths (Contractors) Ltd who built the new road, said: “We organised the ride to highlight the significance of the new cycle path running alongside the length of the road.

“We’re absolutely delighted with the huge number of people who joined us and made the ride such a success. We also want to thank all the residents who have been so patient whilst we have been building the South Bristol Link.”

Opening in the new year, the new road aims to reduce traffic on residential roads by providing motorists with an alternative route to the A370 and A38.

MetroBus services are also expected to start on the route in autumn 2017.
