Where to find the rarest Pokemon in Bristol

By Frank West  Thursday Jul 21, 2016

As the Pokemon Go craze shows no signs of, er, going, Frank West from Bristol’s Pokemon Go Facebook group, looks at where to find the best Pokemon.

The list of where things spawn is ever growing. There is a large group of people trying to refine what we know. We have a Facebook group with just over 1,000 members, and people are always adding new finds and theories.

The first thing is, being near water will spawn more water type Pokemon. The harbourside is a great place to catch Magikarp, Poliwag, Goldeen and Staryu. Whilst being land-based will spawn the common Pidgey, Rattata and Zubats everyone loves so much.

Further to that, as you travel to different locations you will find different Pokemon. This doesn’t mean travel to another country or even city, but just a few hundred meters can make a big difference. Personally I have collected 111 different Pokemon (about 1,700 with repeats) from different areas all within a few miles of the centre of town.

Our definition of “nest” is an area with an abundance of a specific Pokemon which you can rely on spawning regularly. The running list of nests is as follows:

Castle Park: Pikachu

Page Park (near the Tennis court): Charmander

Temple Garden: Mr Mime

Eastville Park: Machop

Shirehampton Golf Course: Dratini

Greville Smyth Park: Scyther

Ashton Court Mansion: Eevee
