BMX World Championships to be held at NASS
This year’s BMX World Championships will take place at the NASS Festival at the Royal Bath & West Showground in July.
It will be the first time in 28 years that one of the most important BMX freestyle events in the world has been held in the UK.
More than 450 athletes from over 40 countries will be competing in BMX freestyle park, vent and dirt competitions. About 15,000 action sports fans and music lovers are also expected to attend.
is needed now More than ever
Leading BMX riders from around the world will appear at the event, including bona fide BMX superstars Mat Hoffman and Logan Martin.
X Games gold medallists Daniel Sandoval and Daniel Dhers have also RSVP’d for the Championships, as well as UK rider Alex Coleborn, NASS Pro Park champion Mark Webb and skilled BMXers Simon Tabron, Coco Zurita and Bradon Loupos.
Pro skateboarders will also have the chance to compete. Winners will receive part of a $50,000 prize – the largest BMX and skate prize in the UK. Daring skaters will ride over a 14ft vert ramp, a pro park, dirt jumps, street spots, public courses and ramps.
“It’s been almost 28 years but our ‘Worlds’ are returning to English soil with a bang,” says Mat Hoffman, chairman of IBMXFF and former BMX heavyweight.
“I was there in 1988 and I’ll be there again, high-fiving the progression and rocking the love! We are going to see the best riding, inspired by the best music. This is THE Event to plan your year around. See you there!”
Jurassic 5, Andy C and Knife Party will headline the musical portion of the event.
Both the professional and amateur divisions have limited spaces, and athletes are encouraged to register their interest early. Spots are first-come, first-serve.
