Plans for Bristol’s activists to gather for a second meeting
Bristol’s activists are coming together for a second time in March.
Stronger As One, the umbrella name for a host of different activist groups, originally gathered in January to connect and share plans, solutions and ideas on the world’s most pressing issues.
The second event will take place at the Unitarian Meeting Hall in St. Paul’s on Thursday, March 30 at 6pm.
is needed now More than ever
This second gathering has three goals set: Creating opportunities to connect and share plans and ideas for taking action, addressing the need to ensure diversity, equality, and inclusivity in this space, and forming a Stronger as One Coordinating group.
The coordinating group will include representatives from different groups across Bristol, including activists from social and climate justice movements.
The first meeting was facilitated by Manu Maunganidze, co-director of the Bristol Green Capital Partnership and founder of Nature Youth Connection & Education. During the event, she led with a series of questions about the barriers and consequences of activist groups not working together, and some challenges and opportunities left to explore.
One of the main takeaways was the structural inequalities that exist and how those are replicated in the activist space, as well as the importance of mitigating those imbalances of power from the outset.
The initiative is open to receiving new ideas about inclusivity and any feedback and is inviting those who are interested to get in touch at xrbristol.regional@protonmail.com
