Submissions open for annual Wildlife Photographer exhibition
Whether you have caught a snap of wildlife at your bird feeder or sat for hours waiting for an elusive critter, an upcoming competition wants to see your photos.
Following a popular exhibition in 2021, submissions are once again open for this year’s Wildlife Photography Gallery.
Set up by sustainable business hub, Future Leap, the exhibition aims to tell the story of UK biodiversity through the lens of budding, amateur or hobbyist photographers.
is needed now More than ever
The gallery will be launched on January 24, after which a free walk-in exhibition will take place until February 21.
The final exhibiting pieces will be judged by Future Leap and Niche Frames in advance of the exhibition, where one winner will be chosen and announced on the opening night. They will receive a £100 voucher to spend at Niche Frames, a local picture framing business originating in Stokes Croft, which has since become an esteemed local institution for upcoming artists and art buyers to frame their work.
The competition is part of Future Leap’s dedication to support the Bristol City Council’s Ecological Emergency Action Plan, which encourages engagement and action within the community.
The council-wide programme includes a host of activities aimed to deliver the ambitions of the One City Ecological Strategy.
“Wildlife Photography is a powerful form of storytelling. It provides an opportunity to educate others about the fragility of the UK’s biodiversity,” says Katherine Piper, director of partnerships & sustainability at Future Leap.
“By coming together to celebrate our native wildlife, we can make a positive change on both a local and national scale.”
Photographers are encouraged to submit their work before November 30. You can submit via the event page on Future Leap’s website.
