40 Years of Women’s Aid Exhibition

By Lou Trimby  Tuesday Nov 4, 2014

Centrespace Gallery is the venue for a photographic exhibition by Tim Jones celebrating 40 years of the Women’s Aid charity.

The exhibition, which runs from November 21 to November 26, features portraits of some of the many thousands of people who have helped and supported the charity over four decades.

Women’s Aid helps abused women and children who are living with domestic violence.

The National Women’s Aid Federation was set up in 1974, the first national domestic violence organisation bringing together nearly 40 refuge services across the country. For the first time there was a national body to coordinate the campaign for new laws and policies and to improve support for women and children experiencing domestic violence.

The exhibition features a small selection of the many thousands of people involved in the last 40 years of Women’s Aid’s history, development and achievements.
