A free zine about gender equality and respect for young people

By Lowie Trevena  Tuesday Apr 7, 2020

TIGER, a grassroots worker’s co-operative that encourages young people to challenge gender inequality, has co-created a free zine with young people and activists living and working in Bristol.

A not-for-profit co-operative, TIGER ordinarily challenges gender-based barriers with local schools, colleges and universities. In light of the recent coronavirus pandemic, the organisation is using different methods to share the message of respect and to challenge stereotypes.

TIGER’s Guide to Gender Equality & Respect includes topics such as gender norms, healthy relationships, body politics, transgender rights and intersectionality.

Aimed to be used as a resource during lockdown, the zine also includes a worksheet that teachers, youth workers and young people can use.

TIGER is a worker’s co-operative in which staff all are paid equally, each taking part in a wide range of tasks and training. Normally using interactive and artistic workshops, the zine is a different approach to using creativity to challenge labels and teach young people and their caregivers about a range of topics.

“If you are able to, we are also asking for a suggested donation of £2.50 which helps to support our work during this extremely difficult time,” says Natalie Bennett, programme coordinator at TIGER. “We hope it is an excellent resource during lockdown!”
