Acerone and Sepr are all loved up

By Martin Booth  Sunday Mar 6, 2022

Two of Bristol’s most well known street artists have returned to the same spot in which they worked together more than a year ago.

Acerone and Sepr have once again collaborated on a piece dedicated to the theme of love.

Watch a timelapse to see how the piece in the Cumberland Piazza in Hotwells came together over the course of one day’s painting:

“Back in Jan last year, lockdown 3 had just kicked in and I was at the end of my tether without being able to work and having received zero support from the Gov and turned down for more arts grants than I care to remember applying for,” wrote Acerone on Instagram.

“Collaborating with other artists became my default way of coping with the isolation, keeping creative and feeling like I had a purpose.

“The first collaboration I painted with the bevelled and embossed style I painted so much of last year, was with Sepr at this wall and although weathered and flaking, stood untouched for well over a year. Quite an achievement in this age and town.

“So it felt good to return to this spot with Sepr and remix the more love idea for 2022. I feel a lot more positive in myself this time round, despite the population of the world looking on in confusion and despair. It’s amazing how important issues dissolve so quickly these days… Have we stopped demonising folk who chose not to have a vaccine? Why has Gavin Williamson just been knighted? Whatever happened to that Gray report the Met stopped being published?

“One thing I have learned during the pandemic is that I have no power over anything other than my own thoughts and my own actions – and neither do you. Quite liberating, eh?!

“So to paint a bold Bauhaus inspired LOVE with dropshadow and offset rainbow band with the beautiful soul that is Mr Sepr was exactly what I needed just over a year from our More Love 2021 mural. One Love.”
