Bristol Creative Weekend will bring illustrators together across the city
Aiming to bring the city’s illustration community together, Bristol Creative Weekend is set to take place on October 8-9.
The programme is comprised of three distinct city-centre events.
Firstly, student-led ZineZilla will be taking over Strange Brew with an illustration and zine fair, and a packed line-up of over 30 inspirational, up-and-coming local artists.

“For me,” says printmaker and illustrator Eleanor Rose, “it will always represent community, determination and a creative support network.”
Visitors will have a chance to meet and quiz the illustrators, as well as taking part in a special queer zine-making workshop, run by artist duo Chloe Meineck and Jas Creusson – otherwise known as WifeLine.
A wide selection of prints, posters, comics, stickers and posters will be available to buy in the art market, too.

A relaxed Saturday night social for illustrators and creatives is planned at Hamilton House, hosted by Bristol’s AOI (Association of Illustrators) meet-up, ‘Pip’, who have played an instrumental role in connecting like-minded people.
Pip regular Naomi Clarke says: “I really enjoy meeting illustrators in varying fields in such a bubbly and creative environment”; fellow illustrator Laurel Molly notes: “I’ve met some amazing people at these events who have become my really good friends!”
There will be guest talks from ZineZilla and Shake stall-holders, a make-a-collaborative zine table, and a share your own sketchbook space, amongst the activities on offer to help foster new connections.

On Sunday, it’s the turn of The Mount Without, where Shake will be presenting a super-sized XL Art Fair. Shake XL promises a raft of illustrators from Bristol and beyond, selling prints, cards, and gifts.
There will be creative workshops to whet the appetites of those inspired by what they see. “There are so many benefits to coming to these kind of events, both as a visitor or a seller,” reflects illustrator Scotty Gillespie. “It’s a great opportunity to organically network, make new friends, and get inspired to create work.”
Alongside the Shake bar, a wide variety of vegan food vendors have been confirmed, including Stop Ya Beefin’, Future Doughnuts, Eat Dark Matters and Soy Ahoy Bristol.
