Artist creates print from the names of Bristol landmarks
Artist Michael Wylie has created a typographical print of some of Bristol’s well-known landmarks.
The print, depicting landmarks such as Clifton Suspension Bridge and the SS Great Britain, had originally included the words Colston Hall underneath an illustration of the building.
Instead, the name has been replaced with that of nightclub Blue Mountain in Stokes Croft.

The result of a month-long design process, the piece is being sold through Michael’s company Sketchbook Design.
Michael was inspired to create the hand-drawn piece after visiting Bristol in February 2020, saying: “I visited Bristol with my partner for the first time and we absolutely loved it.
“It was while I was visiting that I started to write down my initial ideas for the piece, taking inspiration from the hours we spent wandering through the streets.”

Michael Wylie changed Colston Hall to Blue Mountain on the print
The artist decided to remove the reference to Colston after the statue was toppled.
“Following a bit of an education about the history of Colston Hall’s namesake Edward Colston I’ve removed the name from the print,” he says. “I’ve left the building on the design as it’s an iconic venue and it’s in the process of renaming this year too.”
