Banksy submits anonymous piece to Royal Academy Summer Exhibition
Anonymous Bristol street artist Banksy sent a piece to the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition using a pseudonym – and it was refused.
‘Vote Love’, a version of a ‘Vote Leave’ poster from the EU referendum, was submitted to the exhibition by ‘Bryan S Gaakman’ – an anagram of ‘Banksy anagram’.
But in an Instagram post on Monday afternoon, Banksy writes that a month later, he got an email from exhibition curator Grayson Perry asking him to submit something so he sent it again and it’s now on display.

This year’s 250th annual RA Summer Exhibition runs from June 12 to August 19, with Perry and his committee of fellow artists handpicking more than 1,300 artworks in an array of mediums.
