Bristol exhibition honours unpaid care workers
A new exhibition at The Galleries hopes to celebrate the work of Bristol’s carers.
‘40,138’ is a new exhibition by the team behind Invisible Army, a charity which works to celebrate unpaid carers in Bristol and beyond. The charity’s founders, Carina Andrews and Tina Gue, were united by their shared passion for making a positive difference in the lives of carers.
The result is a powerful art installation depicting each one of those unpaid carers.
is needed now More than ever
“There are 40,138 carers (unpaid) in Bristol. If this army of people became visible what would you see?” they ask.
”Each plant represents one carer in Bristol as well as being a physical reminder of the care that is needed to support something that is living, for it to be able to thrive.”
‘40,138’ is one of three of Invisible Army’s current projects. “The Voices of Carers (unpaid)” aims to learn from and share the stories of unpaid carers. On top of that, the Disabled Adult Play Parks project is set out to build a disabled adult play park in Bristol.
The eye-catching exhibition is located on the top floor of The Galleries in Broadmead. It will remain there until the 12th of December.
