Bristol-themed Christmas mural painted by Cheo and Silent Hobo
Two of Bristol’s most well-known graffiti artists have been commissioned by the city’s tourist body to celebrate Christmas in a new mural.
The piece next to We The Curious is by Cheo, who currently has his first solo exhibition for four years on display at the Upfest gallery on North Street; and Silent Hobo, who earlier this year helped schoolchildren paint Montpelier station.
The mural features a selection of Bristol scenes, including St Nick’s Market and the We The Curious ice rink painted by Silent Hobo on the left of the piece; and Cabot Circus and M Shed painted by Cheo on the right.
is needed now More than ever
In the middle, a giant stencil was used to create the word Bristol from hundreds of metallic disks that move in the wind giving the words a shimmering effect.
The piece was commissioned by the city’s tourism body Visit Bristol as part of their #MerryBristmas campaign and shares a similar design to this year’s printed Christmas guide to things to do.
It has appeared on the opposite side of the wall from another new mural by Anna Higgie aimed at raising awareness of climate change:
