Call for artists for Bristol 2015

By Lou Trimby  Wednesday Feb 25, 2015

The Bristol 2015 neighbourhood arts team have been consulting residents and community groups in six of the 14 neighbourhood partnership areas of Bristol since September 2014. Their brief was to find out what a local art project in these areas might look like and what people wanted.

The areas they have been working in are Ashley, Easton and Lawrence Hill, Bishopston, Cotham and Redland, Cabot, Clifton and Clifton East, Dundry View, Greater Bedminster, and Greater Fishponds.

After six months of actively engaging with these communities the arts team are able to accept proposals and responses to the briefs for each area. Bristol artists, crafts people, makers and creatives in any discipline are encouraged to apply.

The briefs range from creating a project which highlights issues relating to waste, this can be recycling, fly-tipping or just household waste (Ashley, Easton and Lawrence Hill) or perhaps a project about Dundry Views best kept secret, the Dundry slopes (Dundry Vew) or maybe a visual piece which unites a specific area of Eastville with Fishponds.

Horfield and Lockleaze, St George and Stockwood, Hengrove and Whitchurch are currently in the consultation stage. There will be a public meeting in March to discuss their findings.  Interested residents can submit their thoughts via an online form.
