Countdown to Bristol Light Festival 2023 begins
With the opening of Bristol Light Festival just days away, the countdown is officially on to the city’s annual free light spectacular, bigger than ever for 2023.
From 5-10pm daily the 11 interactive and immersive light installations featured in this year’s trail – most of which have never been seen in Bristol – will come to life in different locations around the city centre.
There are several brand-new commissions for this year’s festival, including Let Us Shine from Morag Myerscough, and Beam by PYTCH, which will transform Castle Bridge into an ever-changing light sculpture, criss-crossed by lasers.
is needed now More than ever
Award-winning visual artist Marcus Lyall’s Scream the House Down is likely to be a highlight for many visitors, alongside Trumpet Flowers, the giant playable flower forest created by Amigo and Amigo.

Alongside the installations, people walking the trail will find many of Bristol’s most famous landmarks illuminated in celebration of the event, including the Victoria Rooms, the Wills Memorial Building, Millennium Square, Bristol Hippodrome, Temple Meads train station, PRYZM and City Hall on the opening night.
“Visitors can take in each installation across one evening or come across multiple nights and really explore the city,” says Katherine Jewkes, creative director of Bristol Light Festival. “We’re so excited to fill Bristol with colour and light and for people to experience this year’s event.”

St Nick’s Market will be offering late opening hours until 9pm on Saturday 4 and 11 February, and for those looking to extend the party, PRYZM will be hosting light-inspired club nights over the last weekend, including a laser rave on February 10.
