Creative lockdown: Amber Phillips
Amber Phillips is part of the ongoing Bristol24/7 Creative Lockdown series, showcasing how people in Bristol have been getting arty under lockdown.
“It’s a nice escapism to create pieces of art,” says Amber Phillips, an illustrator living in Bishopton. “I try and create work that people can resonate with find some connection in a good way. Showing that through this tough time, there is so much love, care and connection between one another.”
The 25-year-old, who has created illustrations for organisations such as Rife magazine and Caring in Bristol, has drawn pieces of art to reflect the lockdown.
is needed now More than ever
“These are ideas that had been in my mind as the lockdown got more intense,” she says. “What inspires me is what I can see around me when walking down the street, watching the news or hearing people’s stories for these particular drawings.”

So far, her pieces have been inspired by our increased need for technology, social distancing and the power of music. Amber plans of creating more lockdown art as the pandemic continues.
