Creative lockdown: Karine Leroux

By Lowie Trevena  Wednesday Jun 3, 2020

Karine Leroux is part of the ongoing Bristol24/7 Creative Lockdown series, showcasing how people in Bristol have been getting arty under lockdown.

“During lockdown, I’ve been cycling around with my camera, making the most of the beautiful weather and creating this photo series of colourful houses around Bristol,” says Karine Leroux, who works as a French translator.

Rainbow City is a culmination of Karine’s cycles around the city, which she has been sharing on her blog.

Karine, who describes her photography as an “escapism”, took photos of the colourful houses to celebrate the diversity of the city.

“I moved to Bristol from Nottingham in 2005, and I fell in love with the place instantly,” Karine says. “There are so many things that make Bristol unique and vibrant, and to me, those colours represent the diversity that this city has to offer and that we must cherish.

“Cycling with my camera is a way of exploring and capturing the beauty and the quirks of the city and sharing it with the world.”
