Creative lockdown: Nick Drewitt
Nick Drewitt is part of the ongoing Bristol24/7 Creative Lockdown series, showcasing how people in Bristol have been getting arty under lockdown.
Nick Drewitt has been drawing during lockdown to better his mental health during the UK’s lockdown.
Nick, who is 38 and lives in Easton, created an Instagram account to showcase his drawings of people, both local to Bristol and some famous faces. He began drawing people in January 2019 after having problems sleeping, but stopped in November 2019.
is needed now More than ever
“When coronavirus started, I decided to start doing them again as they had previously helped me concentrate, relax and de-stress, and during lockdown I have needed that,” says Nick, who has drawn a a different person every day since March 24 2020.
Comedian Katherine Ryan, and Daisy May Cooper, an actor in This Country, have both shared Nick work, which he creates using pen and pastel colour, applied using his finger.
“I’m no good at drawing,” says Nick. “But I find it helps my mental health very much. My Instagram account has been brought out of lockdown to help me get through this awful period.”
