Exhibition of paintings from mural artist Tom Miller
Bristol artist Tom Miller is making preparations for his exhibition of small paintings at 32 York St, a new brewery and coffee roastery in Stokes Croft. Wall will be open for one day only, on Saturday December 18.
“I’m really excited to focus on a new series tailored for the space at 32 which has inspired smaller scale works, allowing me to get multiple ideas out,” Miller tells Bristol 24/7. “It’s also great being able to have an exhibition in the Christmas period, an exciting cosy time.”
Original artworks will be available for purchase at the exhibition, along with selected prints, t-shirts and in-house coffee and beer.
is needed now More than ever
Used to working at a larger scale, Miller has recently finished a vibrant mural on the exterior of the same venue. He takes his inspiration from many different artists and creatives. “Painting murals in Bristol I have to thank Sepr and 3dom particularly for smashing fun, crazy characters,” he says.
“There are many mural artists around the world who wow me and make me want to go larger. Canvas-wise, the likes of Oliver Vernon and MARS-1 make we want to take things more abstract and surreal.”
In terms of future aspirations, Miller has his sites set on painting more large scale murals and exhibiting in London and further afield, particularly with a view towards American group shows in San Francisco.
But the opportunity to work smaller has been a revelatory one. “I’d love to do some more smaller scale painting,” he reflects. “I can get intimate with the work and get ideas out in a short time scale and offer something affordable.”
