Former phone box repurposed into community art project
A former telephone box is sharing the love for Valentine’s Day.
The K6 kiosk had been unused for many years and was in a sorry state, with flaky paint and cracked windows until being taken on by the local community.
Friends of the Phonebox teamed up with Henbury charity Avon Riding Centre for the Disabled to formerly adopt the historic structure.
is needed now More than ever
Volunteers now change the decorations in the box on Julian Road in Sneyd Park to suit the season, with Christmas lights, live flower boxes for spring and summer, and currently hearts for Valentine’s Day.
It is not the only former phone box in Bristol which has been repurposed, with another red K6 kiosk now Sea Mills Museum.
The Sneyd Park project is funded by donations through donations, with most of the volunteers being residents of Julian Road and Pitch and Pay Lane.
J’s Autofast Repair let volunteers use their hosepipe for watering the plants.
