Mural remembering SirPlus repainted

By Martin Booth  Friday Mar 3, 2023

A mural to a Bristol rapper that was accidentally painted over has been repainted in a new location.

Martin Walker, better known as SirPlus, passed away on November 30 2020 by suicide.

Street artists Jody and Turoe painted a memorial piece to SirPlus – the half-brother of Bristol mayor Marvin Rees – in Mina Road tunnel in St Werburgh’s; and have now painted a larger version of the same piece on a wall next to Mina Road Park.

More than £500 was raised in a crowdfunder following the mural being painted over in order to raise money for it to be repainted on Cowmead Walk.

‘Please respect this piece’ has been written on the new mural located close to the Victorian urinal in the park.

‘Rest in peace’ was written by Turoe while Jody painted Sirplus in his well-known photorealistic style.
