New art gallery opening soon
As soon as Ellena Norman found what will soon become Studio 74, she knew it was the perfect location for her art gallery.
The 24-year-old has been surrounded by art for most of her life, with her family running a gallery in Hertfordshire, but she is already stamping her own personality onto Studio 74.
The counter will be made to look like a cocktail bar and there will be wallpaper on the ceilings featuring electric blue peacocks

The new space is due to open at the beginning of October, with Ellena hoping that a visit will be an “enjoyable experience”.
“I’m hoping to bring something different to a city that I really love,” said Ellena on a recent morning, as workmen were putting the finishing touches to the gallery on Whiteladies Road.
Ellena hopes that this will be an art gallery that does not look like a typical art gallery, not just white walls and expensive paintings.
“This is somewhere that I have put my heart into. It’s everything that I have learned over the last few years and I just want people to feel welcome.”

Studio 74 will feature the work of around 25 artists with prices ranging from a few hundred pounds to around £50,000.
Contemporary pieces inspired by street art will hang next to landscapes, with bronze sculptures also due to be on display.
“I have created the gallery to be a sensory experience,” said Ellena as light streamed into rooms that will soon be filled with works of art.
“I am so excited right now. This just feels so right. I hope people will be able to see how exciting it is to have a gallery like this turn up on their doorstep and for it to be a slightly different place to what they thought the art world is.”
