A new social enterprise will use the arts to help Bristol’s community.
Create For, founded by Amie Murphy and Ellie Wilkinson, uses creativity to raise money into local causes.

“We used to work together and it was an idea that we loosely threw around,” explain Amie and Ellie. “However, we started talking about the idea more seriously in the summer of 2019 and launched in January 2020.”
Amie and Ellie have recently launched their first project, an exhibition raising money for Off The Record, a youth mental health charity located in Old Market.
“We both moved to Bristol after studying creative courses at university and now live and work here,” the women say. “We wanted to focus on local causes to give something back to the community we now live I, so we decided to combine our two favourite things: art and fundraising.
“We hope that our events will raise awareness for the charities and organisations we support and connect people from different backgrounds in the city.”
Amie now works as a marketing coordinator and designer, while Ellie is an illustrator and designer, and they are combining their work, passions and skills to create a better Bristol.
The first exhibition organised by Amie and Ellie, Create For Wellbeing, will take place at The Island in the city centre. It’s the first of many creative events the two women hope to put on to raise funds for local charities and organisations. They plan to organise another exhibition later in the year and work towards getting our own venue for more events in the future.
Everything sold at the exhibition, including artwork and merchandise will fundraise for Off The Record, and there will also be a chance to donate during the event.
Create For has recently opened submissions for the exhibition, and Amie and Ellie hope artists “interpret the theme, wellbeing, however they see fit, hopefully opening some interesting discussions about mental health in the process”.
Submissions are open for Create For Wellbeing until February 29. The exhibition will run from April 20-26. Submit artwork at bit.ly/createforsubmission
