Art / Gromit Unleashed 2
Park Street gets Unleashed
To celebrate the launch of Gromit Unleashed 2, a number of the featured artists are being given the opportunity to paint, spray and decorate shop fronts and canvases up and down Park Street on Sunday, July 8.
The interactive #ParkStreetUnleashed event is free, with the public able to watch as these exclusive pieces take shape. The artists will start work at 10am and finish at 4pm. The event also coincides with two major cycling events, the Bristol Grand Prix and Let’s Ride Bristol – happening on the same day.
The artists include:
Cheba (creator of Splash!, St Marks Road, Easton)
The Knitted Pea (Draco, Kings Chase Shopping Centre, Kingswood)
Paula Bowles (The Wensleydale Kid, Clifton Observatory: detail, pictured top)
Laura Hallett Art & Illustration (Stellar, Cass Art, Park Street)
Hannah Bone Illustration (Rockin’ Robin, Ashton Gate Stadium)

The event will also see a unique collaboration between Bristol street art legends Cheba and Inkie, who will be bringing their unique styles together on a single canvas. Located at the top of Park Street outside the former Jamie’s Italian restaurant site, the one-off piece will be displayed across the city before being sold, with all proceeds donated to charity.
is needed now More than ever
#ParkStreetUnleashed is the first in a series of ‘Art is Central’ occasions, encouraging visitors to think about their streets in a different way. It’s being organised by the Bristol City Centre Business Improvement District.

Keith Rundle, Operations Director at Bristol City Centre BID said: “In celebration of the opening of the amazing Gromit Unleashed 2 trail we are bringing seven of the artists to Park Street. They will be decorating the windows of a number of premises, and this is the beginning of a continuing plan to improve the experience of Park Street for everyone and to bring it back to prominence as a great British high street.
“The #ParkStreetUnleashed event is part of our ‘Art is Central’ series. Over the coming months we will be working with both established and up-and-coming local artists to transform the look and feel of the city centre.”
Launched on July 2, Gromit Unleashed 2 features over 60 giant sculptures decorated by internationally renowned artists, sited around Bristol for two months until September 2. The event aims to raise awareness and much needed funds for The Grand Appeal, to support patients and save lives at Bristol Children’s Hospital.
The art created will remain on Park Street until early September.
