Pop-Up Art Studio coming to Paintworks

By David Woodall  Tuesday Oct 20, 2015

Award-winning housebuilder Crest Nicholson is calling on all local artists, creatives and visionaries to come down to its Pop-Up Art Studio on Saturday 24th October for 12 hours of creativity, in the heart of Bristol’s creative quarters, Paintworks, supported by local artist Carol Peace.

Between 9am and 9pm at the main event space at Paintworks, artists will be encouraged to create a unique piece of artwork inspired by a brief provided on the day. To register for the event or to get a sneak peak of the brief, head to The Paintworks website and start thinking about what you’re going to create on the day. The winner will have their creation commissioned and displayed at the new residential development while housebuilders Crest Nicholson are on-site. Runners up, along with winners will also have their work promoted to help reach a wider audience for a limited time.

Not only that but esteemed local artist and sculptor Carol Peace will be judging the competition on the day alongside opening her studio to the public for ten days only – so it’s a fantastic opportunity to meet her and be inspired by some of her pieces, whilst networking with likeminded individuals and creating something special!

Carol Peace says: “Bristol is home to some incredibly talented artists and creatives and it’s a community that I’m immensely proud to be a part of. I’m delighted to be judging this event because it will give me the opportunity to see a range of stunning work created across many different disciplines. I hope that local people will not only be encouraged to come down and create a piece of art but also, mix with other artistic types to help them find the yin to their creative yang. I’m also looking forward to opening my art studio to the public because I thoroughly enjoy showing my work to local people in the hope that it inspires them to bring out their creative side.”

Last year planning permission was granted to Crest Nicholson for Phase 3 developments at Paintworks, which is now under construction. The development will provide an eclectic mix of 221 one and two bedroom apartments, three and four bedroom homes plus live, work units. If you’re a local artist, it promises to be an unmissable opportunity to live and breathe the lifestyle on offer at The Paintworks, the heart of Bristol’s creative hub.  Located in the Arnos Vale area of Bristol, known as Paintworks, the development is within close distance to Bristol Temple Mead station and will enhance the already established community, which benefits from galleries and the unusual and hugely popular urban, warehouse type feel.

Bristol-based sculptor Carol Peace opens her studio for 10 days, starting 22nd October. Her studio will offer visitors the chance to stop for a sit down, a coffee, a read or something more creative as space will be made for children and adults to draw and write.
