Preview: Every Kind of People, Lime Tree Gallery
As the song goes ‘it takes every kinda people, to make what life’s about’.
And the latest exhibition at Hotwell Road’s excellent Lime Tree Gallery explores that theme through the eyes of many of the gallery’s finest artists. The result is a wide-ranging exhibition of interesting people doing interesting things in interesting places.

Highlights include a new artist to the gallery, locally-based Robert Hewer, who trained at Bath Spa University graduating in 2013 and now lives and paints near the city. “We believe that he is a serious talent, so we are delighted that he has agreed to exhibit with us,” explains gallery owner Sue Dean.

Also new to the gallery is Gregory Mason, educated at St Martins School of Art and a finalist in the 2018 Sky Arts Landscape painter of the year competition. Elsewhere Thornbury’s Sophie Ploeg, winner of the Travel Award at the 2013 BP Portrait Award, presents two beautiful new works for the exhibition, as does the hugely successful Scottish painter Steven Lindsay.

Other artists explore the faces of the Caribbean (Anne Anderson and Jackie Anderson), Russia (Olga Oreshnikov – Puppetry Delight, detail, pictured top, and Nikolai Reznichenko), India (Natasha Kumar), and places closer to home, across a range of styles from representational, through playful to the ‘dark reforming shapes’ of Nottingham based Oliver Lovley.
