St Mary Redcliffe transformed for Treefest 2023
Bristol’s annual free charity Christmas tree festival, Treefest, returns to St Mary Redcliffe Church from Thursday to Sunday.
The gothic splendour of the 800-year old church is now home to numerous uniquely decorated Christmas trees from local businesses, schools, charities and community groups.
“You’ll find real trees, artificial trees and stylised trees,” organisers say. “You’ll find beautiful decorations, many handmade by the donors, and trees made from a wide variety of materials from recycled plastic and paper to pompoms. It is a real celebration of the diversity of our fabulous city.”
is needed now More than ever
A wide-ranging programme of music will be taking place throughout the festival, featuring groups including Bristol Folk Singers, Batala Bristol Samba Reggae Drumming Band, St Mary Redcliffe School Brass Ensemble and Piratitude – shanty singing pirates.
Alongside food and drink available to purchase, a festive market in the Undercroft will be taking place daily with a variety of stalls, workshops and potentially even a visit from Santa.
This year’s chosen Treefest charities include Redcliffe Hub community centre, and The Nelson Trust.
With services across the region, The Nelson Trust also runs a Bristol Women’s Centre to support women with practical and emotional support to address a range of needs including abuse, trauma, exploitation, unemployment, poverty, substance misuse, criminal justice involvement and mental illness.
Treefest is at St Mary Redcliffe Church from December 7-10, open from 10am-5pm Thursday, 10am-8pm Friday-Saturday and from midday-4pm Sunday. For more information, visit www.stmaryredcliffe.co.uk/treefest
