Stunning new mural on side of Old Bookshop

By Martin Booth  Monday Jun 24, 2019

Nick Harvey spent almost a week working on a stunning new mural on the side of the Old Bookshop.

The piece is part of Upfest Summer Editions, which has seen colour continued to be added to the streets of Bedminster and Southville despite a fallow year for the festival.

The tiger drawn by Nick Harvey is a slight departure from his typical work exploring the shared environment of humans and nocturnal animals living in Bristol.

Nick Harvey grew up in London, studying fine art at university

The Kane Gallery says that Harvey “offers something out of the ordinary, drawing our attention away from our everyday, mundane surroundings”

A new vintage clothing and furniture shop, Patina, has recently opened next door to the Old Bookshop

Harvey’s work is the third in the series of Upfest Summer Editions to appear in recent weeks.

The first was a collaboration between My Dog Sighs and Curtis Hylton on the side of the Rising Sun in Windmill Hill; and the second a huge portrait by Jody of teenage climate change activist Greta Thunberg on the Tobacco Factory.

Andy Council has worked his magic on the front of Creative Space on North Street while, at the other end of the street, Bex Glover;s work has now taken the spot on the side of Souk Kitchen.
