The Other Art Fair comes to Bristol

By Lou Trimby  Friday Feb 6, 2015

The Other Art Fair is renowned for connecting people who wish to purchase original art directly with the best undiscovered artists in the UK and beyond. It focuses on discovering and tapping into new and previously unknown artists, and encouraging artists and buyers to engage directly with each other. Artworks start at just £50.

Arnolfini will host the first fair outside of London on 5-7 June, featuring exciting guest artists, workshops, immersive theatre, live music and performance art.  London has hosted seven editions of the fair: the most recent, last October, attracted over 13,000 visitors.

One of the artists in residence will be Bristolian Sickboy, who will also be on the selection committee. The latter comprises a number of contemporary art experts including Helen Legg, director of Spike Island, Paul Hobson, director of Modern Art Oxford and Cherie Federico, director of Aesthetica Magazine, who will pick artists for the Bristol edition.

The fair will feature a high-profile artist who will curate an element of the show and release an exclusive print. The guest artist at the 2014 show in London was the world famous YBA Tracey Emin, who created a series of unique and affordable limited edition works exclusively for the event.

The Other Art Fair Director Ryan Stanier comments: “It’s such an exciting time for us, we are overwhelmed by the loyal following we’ve gathered from our London events and are delighted to bring the fair to Bristol. The South-West’s cultural legacy is well known for cultivating great creative talent and we hope to be a welcome addition to the cultural calendar in the city in 2015 with our unique style of event.”
