Tom Hovey is Bake Off’s secret ingredient
Bristol illustrator Tom Hovey will once again be providing the secret ingredient as The Great British Bake Off returns to our screens tonight.
Hovey, who lives in Totterdown and has a studio in Stokes Croft, provides all of the sketches of food for the hit show.
He gets up to two weeks to provide his familiar pen and ink drawings for each episode and does about five or six drawings for each bake.
is needed now More than ever
“In some ways the popularity is a reaction against all the reality and talent shows on television,” Hovey told the Bristol Post
“It is as much about personalities as the baking but there is a simplicity to the programme which people seem to really appreciate.
“The programme is all about people showing off their skills in the kitchen. It is not about people’s stories or where they have come from.”
