Upfest artist registration opens
Upfest, Europe’s largest live street art and graffiti festival has opened registration for 2015’s event. Any practicing artist, graffiti writer or amateur is invited to register their interest in painting live at the festival. Artists working in any medium – from graffiti to fine art and stencils to the abstract, can register to become a part of this vibrant art festival – as long as they don’t mind painting in front of a huge audience.
The festival will take place from July 25-27 and in the past has attracted more than 25,000 visitors and 250 of the most cutting edge and diverse graffiti artists from across the globe.
The selected artists will paint to a soundtrack of live funk, soul, reggae and old school hip hop music in locations all over Bedminster. These locations include the Tobacco Factory, Hen and Chicken, The Steam Crane and Spotted Cow. More than 30,000 square foot of artwork will be created across the festival weekend.
Upfest founder and gallery owner Stephen Hayles explains: “We are very excited that this year’s registration is now officially open! Upfest is firmly established as one of the world’s biggest and most diverse gatherings for urban artists and we have already received some interest from some top names, so the selection process which usually takes up to four weeks will be very interesting.”
Due to the huge volume of artists who attend Upfest, the festival is unable to provide financial support to individual artists. However, they can forward details of cheap accommodation and supply some materials.
Upfest will again be raising money for The National Association for Children of Alcoholics (NACOA) which offer a confidential phone line for children affected by alcoholism within the family unit.
