Upfest pays tribute to president Zelensky
Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been portrayed as Superman as part of this year’s Upfest.
The new artwork by Karl Read sees Zelensky pealing back his shirt to reveal a Superman logo in the blue and yelloe colours of Ukraine.
Writing on Instagram, Read said: “A great day painting my latest piece for Upfest. So many really nice locals wanting to chat and talk about the art, it’s always a privilege to be able to come back and paint in Bristol.”

Read’s piece on the corner of Langton Park and North Street in Bedminster has replaced a previous mural painted by Bex Glover.
Upfest 2022 takes place over the weekend of May 28 and 29, with hundreds of artists painting live with festival hubs at the Tobacco Factory, Ashton Gate Stadium and Greville Smyth Park.
