By Oran Donnelly  Monday May 30, 2022

UWE Bristol’s degree show is returning after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

Promising graduates and alumni from UWE Bristol’s Environment and Technology faculty (FET) and its Creative Industries department will showcase their work.

The exhibition will begin on June 9, with students from the FET showcasing innovation in architecture, creative technologies, computing, engineering, geography and the environment and product design.

The show will feature live music and an outdoor gallery covering art, design, animation, drawing and print, fashion, media, performance, photography and filmmaking.

The degree show will be spread across UWE’s Bower Ashton campus, Arnolfini and Spike Island campuses.

Speaking about the show, Fabia Jeddere-Fisher, UWE Bristol’s interim head of department for architecture and the built environment, said: “This has been the most incredible graduating cohort, and this degree show celebrates their resilience over the past few years.”

Fabia continued: “These students have learned to understand different viewpoints, collaborate with multiple disciplines and present design solutions with a wider perspective.

“We are delighted to welcome friends, family and industry partners to campus to walk among the student’s creative outputs, and meet the future designers, thinkers and change-makers.”

For an idea of what to expect, one of the many students showcasing their work is graduate Elena Hartley, who is a recent recipient of the Rome arts programme scholarship.

Hartley will be exhibiting her dissertation for her BA in drawing and print at the Arnolfini. Her work is titled ‘Middle Age Penance and “Melodramatic Money-Shots”: Confessional Discourse in the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’, and is an amalgamation of some of Hartley’s favourite things, middle age art and the television show The Real Housewives.
