New bookshop to be officially opened by David Olusoga
Acclaimed author, historian and television presenter David Olusoga will be cutting the ribbon at the opening of the newest bookshop in his home city of Bristol.
Bookhaus is opening at 6pm on Thursday, after which Olusoga will be signing copies of his books including Black and British and A House Through Time.
The new bookshop at Rope Walk in Wapping Wharf is being opened by experienced booksellers who also own shops including Lyme Regis Bookshop in Dorset and the award-winning Watermill Bookshop in Perthshire in Scotland.

Bookhaus manager Darran McLaughlin said: “We are really excited that David will be officially opening Bookhaus.
“Black and British, a superb history of black people in Britain, has recently been published in a new edition to cover the Black Lives Matter movement of 2020, in which Bristol played such a central part.
“Meanwhile, as a television presenter, his most recent series of A House Through Time was based on a merchant’s house just ten minutes from Bookhaus.”

Bookhaus already has a number of author events lined up for the autumn and will be hosting regular events including reading groups, book launches and writing groups.
Co-owner Kevin Ramage said: “We see Bookhaus as representing all that is best in contemporary literature with a focus on diversity and global outlook.
“Not only that, we plan to be particularly strong in history, science and current affairs – books that address the burning questions of the world we live in.”
