Bringing classic books back to life
A new Bristol publishing house will print limited edition collections of classic books alongside posters and t-shirts that link literature to the music it influenced.
Dead & Read’s crowdfunder is being launched on Halloween by Sam Taylor, the co-founder of Max Minerva’s bookshop in Henleaze and Portishead.
For Dead & Read’s first collection, Sam is pairing heavy metal with the horror literature that inspires its lyrics, music and imagery.
is needed now More than ever
The three horror classics to be published will be Frankenstein, The Turn of the Screw and In a Glass Darkly, with each title limited to 666 copies.
The artwork has been created by Dan Mumford, who has previously worked with bands including Metallica, Iron Maiden and Queens Of The Stone Age.
The foreword for the books has been written by Andrew O’Neil, occult comedian, musician and author of
The History Of Heavy Metal; with the books, posters and t-shirts all being printed in Bristol.
The Kickstarter campaign goes live on October 31 at www.kickstarter.com/profile/deadandread. For the latest news, follow Dead & Read on Instagram:
