Bristol author publishes debut novel

By Joanna Papageorgiou  Friday Apr 17, 2015

Bristol writer Stefan Mohamed has landed a three-book-deal with Salt publishing from a debut novel he first wrote at 16.

Bitter Sixteen is about a boy who gains superpowers on his 16th birthday. His story stars cynical and solitary Stanly Bird who was a typical teenager until suddenly he finds he can talk to his beagle named Daryl and has gained the powers of flight and telekinesis. As he writes:

There’s getting into trouble – like being told off by your teachers, or being grounded by your parents – and then there’s getting into TROUBLE. Like cowering behind a table while the room fills with bullets.

Or witnessing brutal and chaotic battles to the death.

Or suddenly gaining superpowers…

This entertaining and curiously fun book won the Dylan Thomas Prize for unpublished writers in 2010 and it’s a bit of a treat that it’s now available to everyone.

Bitter Sixteen by Stefan Mohamed is available now for purchase.
