By Betty Woolerton  Saturday Nov 19, 2022

A new independent bookshop has opened its doors in east Bristol.

The Small City Bookshop has been opened on Church Road in Redfield by two friends, Christie Cluett and Sarah Balfour.

Christie has been a secondary school and adult literacy teacher, and has also run popular storytelling nights; while Sarah has years of bookselling experience in Waterstones and independent bookshops.

Located in former pawnbrokers Jack’s Cash, Small City Bookshop is just the latest addition to Bristol’s burgeoning bookshop scene.

It joins recent openings Heron Books in the Clifton Arcade in Clifton Village and the Good Book Shop which is part of Two-Six-Four, further up Church Road in St George.
