A new podcast, Spellbound, will launch to coincide with World Book Day on March 5. The series, hosted by Bristol broadcaster and voice actor, Melissa Thom, aims to guide parents, carers, educators, readers and writers through the world of children’s books with advice, suggestions and recommendations on what to read and what is available.

Guests in the first series include authors Phillip Reeve, Kaye Umansky, and Rachel Bright; comic book creator, Bob Etherington; plus Montpelier-based writer, illustrator and animator, Joe Berger.
Also appearing are the founders of The Bath Children’s Literary and Wonder Festivals, Gill and John McClay, and founder of children’s publisher Barefoot Books, Tessa Strickland.
Producer and host of Spellbound, Melissa Thom, who previously ran national literacy charity, Read a Million Words for 3 years, says: “We are so excited to launch Series one of Spellbound as an audio companion to anyone out there who wants to know more about children’s books and specifically, how to move their children on to the next exciting book or series, whatever their age.
“We ask all our guests why reading to children from a young age is so important and what books can do for readers from birth all the way through to young adult readers. It’s always a joy and a pleasure to sit down with a cup of tea and talk about children’s books and the lifetime magic they can create for us all.”
Spellbound launches on World Book Day: Thursday, March 5. The first four episodes of series one will be available for immediate download, with the following four episodes launching weekly. For more information, visit https://www.spellboundkids.com/
