Coffee ‘field guide’ by Bristol cafe owner

By Joanna Papageorgiou  Thursday Nov 13, 2014

Coffee: A Modern Field Guide is the debut publication for Bristol publishers We Hunt & Gather, a collaboration between graphic designer John Rich and digital marketer Lorna Picton.

As a side project from their day jobs, Rich and Picton aim to produce two modern field guides a year in combination with a different guest expert each time. The first expert is Mat North, owner of Full Court Press speciality coffee shop on Broad Street.

Full Court Press was voted by The Independent in 2013 as one of the best cafes in the UK. The only problem was that it had not yet opened.

But the newspaper got it right because North is that good at coffee.

In similar fashion, Bristol24/7 is happy to announce to announce that this new book is destined to be a coffee lover’s bible before we have had a chance to see a complete version.

“The only way to appreciate how great coffee can be is to immerse yourself in it and hopefully Coffee: A Modern Field Guide can help people to do just that,” says Rich.

The topics range from information about the plant, how to grow it and then all the way to roasting, brewing and tasting.

The topic of We Hunt & Gather’s next publication, also in the food and drink field, has not yet been revealed.

Coffee: A Modern Field Guide is published today (November 14) by We Hunt & Gather
