Heartman beats award-winners for CWA longlist

By Joanna Papageorgiou  Thursday Jun 25, 2015

One of Bristol 24/7’s books of 2014, the Bristol-set thriller Heartman has beaten award-winning novels such as Elizabeth is Missing and best selling authors such as Lee Childs and even TR Richmond to make it to the Crime Writers Association Steel Dagger awards longlist. The shortlist is announced on June 30.

In the meantime, Heartman‘s author MP Wright is waiting for filming to start on the mini-series of the novel, which has been written by BAFTA-winning dramatist Tony Marchant.

Heartman is a story so well written and researched that it could be a major piece of evidence in the case for time travel. It is 1965 and ex-cop Ellington is forced to flee Barbados in tragedy and finds himself in Bristol. Unemployed among his family’s community in St Paul’s, he is forced to take on a private investigation. What starts off as a way to make money ends up with a race to save the life of a vulnerable young woman.
