Moses McKenzie wins breakthrough writer at Soho House Awards
A debut novelist from Easton has been honoured at the inaugural Soho House Awards.
Moses McKenzie was named best breakthrough writer at the event which also saw prizes given to actor John Boyega, musicians Michael Kiwanuka and Self Esteem, and fellow writer Bernardine Evaristo.
Soho House said that the awards “were created to champion breakthrough talents as well as established household names, right across the creative industries”.

Twenty-four-year-old Moses’ debut novel, An Olive Grove in Ends, is set in Easton around Stapleton Road.

Speaking from the stage at the awards ceremony on Thursday, Moses said: “My first book came out. It’s fantastic. You should all buy it.
“My second novel is going to be better and clearly I think my third one is going to be one of the best books written.”
