What The Frock ? A Book Launch

By Lou Trimby  Friday Oct 2, 2015

What the Frock founder Jane Duffus and just-back-from Edinburgh Festival comedian Becky Brunning (OK, we know the Festival ended a month ago but it wasn’t a speedy train) and comedy dynamo Cerys Nelmes will be hosting a special bookish event at Hydra Bookshop on Wednesday October 7.

The event will be celebrating the publication of ‘The What The Frock Book Of Funny Women’. And from 6.30pm Jane and Becky will lead a fun discussion of the countless funny women without whom comedy would be a duller and less amusing place.  Unless you only like male comedians and well that’s an entire debate that’s been running for years.

Who knows which comedians will be discussed? We don’t.  And we expect Jane, Cerys  and Becky aren’t sure what comedians the crowd will throw into the mix.  The event will be an event of two halves, the first will be covering the history of women in comedy, the second a selection of biographies from the book.

The book includes essays on more than 70 women who prove that yep, women are very funny indeed and this evening should further convince any doubters.
