Now in its third year, the Kevin Elyot Award promises £3000 of funding to aspiring writers, with residency and support at The University of Bristol Theatre Collection.

The late Kevin Elyot (1951-2014) was a British script and playwright who graduated from the University of Bristol in 1973. His most notable works include the play My Night With Reg (1994) the film Clapham Junction (2007).

The award is funded by an endowment from members of Kevin’s family, who want to continue the legacy of Kevin’s work by inspiring future generations of writers.

With full access to The Kevin Elyot Archive, as well as other theatre collections, the award is designed to enable a writer to develop their practice, with much of Kevin’s archive charting his writing methodology, from initial idea to finished product.

The writer-in-residence will receive support from Theatre Collection staff during the research stage, as well as guidance when their work is subsequently disseminated.

Applications close at 5pm on April 20 2018. For more information or to apply, visit www.bristol.ac.uk/theatre-collection/news/2018/kevin-elyot-award-2018-call-for-submissions.html
