Zadie Smith is coming to Bristol
Literary powerhouse Zadie Smith is visiting Bristol to promote her first novel for seven years, The Fraud.
Loosely based on the Tichborne Trials, a controversial 1873 court battle over the aristocratic Tichborne title and estate, The Fraud takes us on a whirlwind journey exploring the many faces of Victorian England.
By focusing on the infamous court case, Smith promises to explore hypocrisy, deception and the performative nature of law and order.
is needed now More than ever
As an author, Smith quickly gained acclaim after her ambitious first novel, White Teeth, which centred on British immigrants and the legacies of the empire and the Commonwealth.
In one of only five such events in the UK, Smith will discuss her new novel in the Victoria Rooms in Clifton on September 7 with Madhu Krishnan, at an evening organised by Gloucester Road Books.
