Expect the unexpected at Jon Udry’s Variety Bungalow
Award-winning Bristol juggler and comedian Jon Udry has turned his unique skillset into a cast-iron act that he has performed internationally.
In his own words, “I get paid to travel the world, tell jokes and do some throwing and catching”.
His ABC Tour – which culminated in a book and documentary – saw him attempting to perform 26 juggling shows in 26 venues, beginning with A is for Aquarium at Bristol Aquarium back in 2017, through to Z is for Zoo at Milnthorpe, Cumbria, two years later.

Bringing together some of his favourite cabaret acts, Udry is hosting the first live version of his Variety Bungalow show at The Wardrobe Theatre on November 6.
The night began as an online lockdown experiment, presented from Udry’s bungalow. And the cosy aesthetic is something he is keen to transfer to the live stage.
“The Wardrobe seems like the perfect venue to host this show, because it has that warm, intimate and homely feeling that I tried to create from my bungalow in the lockdown shows,” he reflects.
“I want it to be the type of show that people can turn up to in their comfies and have a cup of tea.”
Curating the night has been an instructive process for Udry, who would like to turn Variety Bungalow into a semi-regular event, if there is demand for it.
Confirmed on the bill for November 6 are himself as juggler and compére, circus performer Darryl J Carrington, contortionist/aerialist Molly Whitehouse, puppetier Sylvia Hunt, bubblologist Bubblina, and mime/clown act, Les Bubb.
“There are so many wonderful cabaret performers that live in Bristol,” he enthuses, “however, there isn’t a huge cabaret scene here at all.
“If this show goes well, I want to start doing them every three months, and then maybe more, in order to give the Bristol cabaret performers a platform to shine.”
