The countdown to Circus City 2021
Circus City 2021 runs from September 30 to October 16 and includes dozens of both indoor and outdoor events.
“In the last half a year we have been commissioning and supporting artists, and building a programme that feels relevant, engaging and hopeful,” say the Circus City team.
“We are working with more community organisations than ever before and are presenting our biggest outdoor programme to date.
is needed now More than ever
“It’s still not possible to fathom how much the world has changed since our last festival in 2019.
“Simply by gathering for the shared experience of live performance, and experiencing what our artists have been creating, we hope that Circus City can play a part in a process of social healing.”

This year’s programme sees shows taking place at venues including The Mount Without, St Werburgh’s Community Centre and Redcatch Park.
Themes include the politics of scapegoating; a jukebox circus cabaret of camp classics; and a journey through bread making, acrobatics and growing up in strait-laced provincial France.
